Hi All,

Well it’s been eight days and Trinity has been everything that you all said she was. We’re attaching a couple of pictures that we took this week. The first is Trinity and the girls right before we had dinner tonight. Trinity likes to sit under the table and has been great during dinner time. The second picture is Trinity watching as Kyle and the girls made cookies the other night. Since the snow last week we’ve had some good days up here. Following 24 hours of straight rain on Friday and Saturday the sun finally came out today, and it made everyone very excited. We went to the park and Trinity is able to run around in a fenced area for a while. She has been great on her morning walks and has even stopped pulling on the leash for us. She went to her first athletic event today (Tom is an Asst. Athletic Director at Central Connecticut State University) and she is a hit with everyone. We took her to the vet on Monday and she weighed in at 58 pounds, Joanne we will fax you the paperwork from her exam. She was the perfect patient and everyone there loved her. We have been to the pet store just about every day and it take 3-4 times as long because everyone has to stop and say hello to her. She met her Nana (Tom’s mom) last week and did great with her and the girls while she babysat. She also met some friend’s dogs and is fabulous with them.

That’s about it from here, just wanted to give everyone an update and a few ics.

Oscar’s happy tail, shared by his new owner, Angie:

Hi -

Oscar is doing great! I think I’ve solved the mystery of what he is. I’m thinking half shepherd/half basenji. He’s really such a great, smart, sweet dog. And he loves the kids and they LOVE him. He even tolerated all the kids coming to pet him in Nantucket-when it got to be too much he’d just crawl farther under the so they couldn’t reach him. He really makes us smile everyday! Thanks for making the whole thing work out! I wish I had some silly story for you but he’s really been just great. I’ll keep sending you Oscar updates. I’m going to try to get him swimming next week in Lake Winnipesaukee. That should be entertaining!!

Trooper’s happy tail, shared by his new owners:

Just wanted to let you know how Trooper is doing. Our family changed his name to Remy (after the rat in the movie ratatouille), and he has been such a great dog. He loves to go to the park with us and play tug of war. He is so affectionate and a great companion, we couldn’t be any happier. I thought you would like to see this. he is amazing – fitting right in… Today we went to the dog beach for the big dogs to swim and he went in up to his belly, then passed out in the tent we made him. he is perfect for us…as I type he is snuggled up next to me on the coach. Rupert’s happy tail, shared by his new owner, Kelly:

Hi Joanne,

I thought I would give you a more detailed update on Rupert. The short of the long is he is doing great! He has adjusted really well and we have been bonding more and more.

He got his first bath on Saturday… that was funny now he walks into the shower almost every time he goes in the bathroom so I guess he was not to traumatized though I know he was not thrilled.

I was home sick on Tuesday and he was such a great little bed warmer. However, he didn’t fully understand that I was not staying home to play with him. He slept with me most of the day and kepped me warm however, he tried to get me to play several times by standing on me and or running around the room… I was not persuaded as I did not feel like getting out of bed.

He has been learning really fast as well. He has learned to sit and roll over. He is getting better at being left alone a bit better than before. He crises a bit and doesn’t mind the crate at all just being left alone.

I attached some photos from the beach as well as the chair that he has claimed as his own.

Murray’s happy tail, shared by his new owner:

Hello Joanne,

Mitch – now Murray – is doing very well. He’s a darling dog- very affectionate, mellow but playful at times, and very loyal, as he was billed. He has bonded very nicely with the whole family and lets the girls dress him up at their will. He has gained a healthy 10 pounds since he made his way back here and loves his walks in the woods, as well as his encounters with other dogs. An x-ray confirmed that he had badly fractured his left hind leg, probably from being hit by a car, but it is already significantly healed and should heal completely without any further intervention, according to the vet. So in short, all is good: I’m delighted to have all that searching behind us and moving steadily towards a normal dog relationship.

Echo and Tyche’s happy tail, shared by their new owners, Irina and Antares:

Hi,

We picked Echo and Tyche (now Louise and Thelma) up from the puppy-transport early July 2008. They were shy little fluffs, light enough to be carried at the same time. It didn’t take long for them to get comfortable and show us all their quirks. Now they’re goofy little six-month-olds, chasing one another on and off the couch and following us around from room to room. They play together every waking minute, though their personalities couldn’t be more different.

While Echo is happy to just nap close to her humans, Tyche prefers scouting the room for chewable items she can snatch off shelves and from under furniture. She likes her belly rubs in the context of wrestling, while Echo will beg for a good belly-rub and hang out as long as you’re willing to oblige. At the dog park Tyche is often the prey-animal due to her small stature (she’s only 25lbs!) and her cat-like behavior (she will approach the newfoundlands and bat at their faces before turning to run like mad; even when she gets rolled–which happens not infrequently–she doesn’t stop the pawing and batting) and Echo likes to help the other pups bring her down. But within seconds, you’ll see them romping around the park, tails held high.

They’re both incredibly fast and love chasing one another around an open field, performing all kinds of acrobatics in the process. They’re fabulous off-leash while hiking and will wait for us if they notice that we stop and will come when called. They have learned “sit,” “down,” “watch,” and “stay,” though they’re not yet 100%. Tyche also loves to fetch and will bring the tennis ball back almost every time, dropping it at your feet. They are very happy to let us have whatever they’re chewing and don’t have the slightest food-aggression issues. They’re still a bit skittish around new people and around some large dogs (others they consider moving playgrounds), and excited kids and large men freak them out a bit. However, they take almost no time at all to warm up to new people, when introduced appropriately. We adore our little girls and thank everyone at PAWS for introducing them into our lives!

Quick note to let everyone know that we are so very happy to have had Quincy and Zoe join our family. They have brought us many moments of smiles and laughter in just the past two weeks. These two are to cute together. I stepped on Yoda yesterday and Bambino came running to save the day, so I had to sit on the floor for 20 minutes with the 2 of them just to reassure them it was OK. Enjoy the pictures.
