As a second grade teacher and dog lover, I had been looking for a community outreach project that my class could be involved in and came across PAWS. My class sponsored a local dog that had been hit by a car and left for dead. After having read a lot of the dog’s painful stories, I decided that I wanted to make a difference in the life of these dogs.
I have been fostering for PAWS since March of 2009 and have had approximately 30 dogs in my home since then. I have three of my own dogs (one of which is a PAWS dog) and typically there are at least two or three fosters who have moved in and are waiting for their forever home. This has been the most remarkable experience for me and my two boys. Helping these dogs find loving homes, working with the amazing volunteers, seeing the reaction of future adopters as they meet their next furry family member is tremendously inspiring. I am honored to be a part of this phenomenal organization that is making a difference in the lives of these truly remarkable dogs.
