Foster Info
  1. Are you able to separate your own dogs from your foster dog if needed?
  2. Not all dogs get along initially. You will need to establish rules/boundaries and pack order. Adjustments between resident and foster dogs can take a few days or a few weeks, we have many talented and trained volunteers that can help foster homes with any difficulties they have.
  3. Are you willing to work on training/rehabilitating a dog?
  4. Most foster dogs will require house training and obedience training. You should be prepared for the occasional accident or behavior such as chewing, counter surfing, jumping, etc.
  5. Do you have any cats?
  6. If you agree to take a dog in that has unknown behaviors with cats, you may need to train foster dogs to interact appropriately with cats.
  7. Are you comfortable working with Pitbulls?
  8. Are you able to foster a Pitbull currently?
  9. Are you able to foster puppies?
  10. Puppies require a LOT of work - house training, socialization etc.
  11. Are you willing to travel to pick up your foster dog?
  12. Our dog transportation partners arrive to locations in CT and NH on Saturdays. It's helpful if you are able to travel to these locations to pick up your foster dog.
  13. Even 100% house trained dogs may have accidents when placed in their foster homes. Foster dogs may whine or bark at night while they adjusts to sleeping in a new home. Are you comfortable working through these potential issues?
