Profession: Principal in a healthcare consulting firm
Current pets: 4 Alaskan Klee Kai: Kua (Aumakua), Kiki, Kami, and Takota (Kota). Kiki and Takota are rescues (Kota is also a front-leg amputee). Kami is a breeder re-home.

How were you introduced to PAWS?

I found out about PAWS through John Gagnon’s Pet Resort, where our dogs are regulars. I figured that any organization so strongly supported by John and his team must do good work.

What do you do as a volunteer?

So far, pre-adoption home visits, transport to events or vet appointments, and adoption events.

Favorite PAWS Volunteer moment?

I really enjoy the adoption events – introducing the special PAWS dogs to potential adopters. It’s also a great chance to meet the other PAWS volunteers.

Profession: Graphic Designer

Current pets: Lila, dog, female, lab/pit mix. Rosie, kitten, female, just plain cute. Rhino, rat, kind of gross, but I like him. Dirt, fish, (my son Wyatt named him).

How long have you been a volunteer? Since December of 2010.

How were you introduced to PAWS?

I contacted them after finding them on the internet. I had wanted to get another dog but when I looked into fostering it seemed like a better plan. I filled out a request to foster and passed the test!

Since then I have met so many wonderful people and had some really great experience.

What do you do as a volunteer?

I am mostly a foster mom. I try to attend any animal fairs and/or meet and greets that PAWS is going to attend to get my foster dog seen. Pictures don’t always do them justice! You have to meet them to really fall in love.

Favorite Volunteer Moment

My daughter, Georgia, who is 7, and I spend a lot of time together because we both bond with the foster pups. She attends all the meet and greets with me.

It’s our special project and we get to spend more time together because of it.

From a dog aspect there is not one instant that sticks out in my mind. Each pup has brought a wonderful experience into our home, some quite hilarious!

It’s amazing how they open up to you when you show them love and affection (also a couch and a bed to share!)

Profession: Nurse Case Manager

Current Pets: Sadie, Megan and Tuukka (all PAWS dogs), Lucie, Lacey, my 11 year old cats (rescues too) and an albino finch named Stewie.

How long have you been a volunteer? Two years.

How were you introduced to PAWS?

I adopted my first dog, Sadie through PAWS in 2007 and after I adopted my second dog from PAWS in 2009, I told Joanne that I would assist with transport and help out at adoption events, which I have a few times. Just recently, PAWS needed a person to act as one of the liaisons to their foster home in MO and I am presently helping out with that.

What do you do as a volunteer?

I help out at adoption events, transport when needed and the new liaison project.

Favorite Volunteer Moment

The first time I had to pick up pups for PAWS in Plainfield CT. It was just the most heartwarming experience seeing everyone so excited to meet their new family members!!
